COUNTDOWN TO HALLOWEEN DAY 6: IT WAS BEAUTY WHO KILLED THE BEAST

She was the first of legions, the originator of the role that is SCREAM QUEEN, the co-star to King Kong: FAY WRAY.

Jean Harlow was the original choice to play the role of Anne Darrow in KING KONG, but MGM signed Harlow exclusively before RKO Pictures could begin filming.

Wray was paid $10,000 for her role in KING KONG and wore a blonde wig during filming.

KING KONG was partly responsible for saving RKO Pictures from bankruptcy.

Wray also appeared in such horror films as Doctor X and The Vampire Bat.

Fay died in August of 2007 at the age of 96. She had just been approached by Peter Jackson to appear in his remake of the original.
