FEAR FOR THE INNOCENTS ON TCM

Easily the finest of the adaptations of Henry James' classic novella "The Turn of the Screw", Turner Classic Movies will be showing this beautifully haunting gothic tale tomorrow (Friday, September 30th) at 1:45pm, so call in sick, turn off all the lights and enjoy one of the best ghost stories ever told. Or, at the very least, set your recording devices and enjoy it later!

This is one of the things I'll be going into more deeply as a part of the Countdown to Halloween (I think TCM will be playing it again on Halloween night), so fair warning. Take notes now and study up!

GIRL from WAKANDA

A commission for my good friend Gary Davis, for whom all things Wakanda are golden (not unlike myself and Asgard)...

HEROES FOR HOPE

Last week meant the September 11 Anniversary--for which the Daily Sketch Challenge had as one of its' challenges to illustrate a NYC Fireman. The above is my effort, click to make bigger.

They are beacons in the darkness.

METROPOLIS and THINGS TO COME

Just a quick reminder that in just about an hour at Midnight on Turner Classic Movies, Fritz Lang's METROPOLIS will be playing (not sure if it's the "Refound" version) and later, at 3:45am H.G. Wells' THINGS TO COME will be on.

SHOWING LATE, LATE FRIDAY NIGHT ON TCM...

It's a double feature of dubious depravity--first, at 2am there comes Peter Cushing in...

CORRUPTION (1968)

and then, at 3:45am, there shall be seen (in ANAMORPHIC DUOVISION, no less!)....

WICKED, WICKED (1973)

SEVEN SINFUL SKETCHES

More Daily Sketch Challenges--some more complete than others... for a more detailed look at the glaring flaws in these sketches, click them and they shall fill your screen more fully. Here we see Poison Ivy:
The Goblin/Red Queen:
Scarlett of G.I. Joe:
A more revealing look at Ms. Pryor, The Goblin Queen...
Oracle...
My own challenge, drawing a team of X-Men in the original school uniforms:
And, finally, Poison Ivy again--this one reminds me much of Stupefyin' Jones as played by Julie Newmar:
